Venus & Serena Williams

Venus and Serena Williams are both professional tennis players, as well as sisters. Both women have seen an amazing tennis career and found their names in the spotlight on a regular basis. Venus is the oldest of the sisters by about a year. In their careers, both have proven to have amazing talents with regards to the game of tennis and have captures the attention of spectators from around the world. Both are top stars and have achieved many awards. When it comes to sisters sharing an interest, it is quite obvious that these two do just that.

Venus Williams was born in 1980 and is considered to be one of the best American Pro tennis players. She is a former World Number 1 player and as of May, 2012 she was ranked as Number 53 in singles. The WTA has ranked her World Number 1 on three occasions with the first time being Feb. 25, 2002. This had made her the first ever black woman to achieve this title during Open Era. Venus Williams has achieved the win of three Olympic gold medals and has won more gold medals for tennis than any other female. Her achievements have led to her being one of the more popular and watched female tennis players out there. Venus Williams is also one of two WTA players who have ended up making the finals in all four Grand Slams. The only other tennis player to achieve this is her own sister, Serena Williams.

Serena Williams is also considered to be one of the best American Pro tennis players. She is a former World Number 1 and has been ranked so in singles on five different occasions. The first time Serena was ranked number 1 was on the 8th of July in 2002. One thing which should be noted about Serena Williams is that she is the only female tennis player who has made more than $35,000,000 in prize money. Serena Williams is also the most recent player to have held all four Grand Slam singles simultaneously and there has only been four other females in history who have done so. One thing to note is that Serena Williams has seen more wins of major titles in doubles, mixed doubles, and singles than any other active player.

Venus and Serena Williams have competed against each other in 23 matches since 1998. Out of those matches Serena had won 13 of them. The sisters have also competed against each other in 8 Grand Slam singles finals in which Serena won 6 of the 8. These sisters have an obvious passion for the sport of tennis which works well for both of them considering they both have a lot of talent and natural born ability with regards to being good at it. It’s rare for a player to see such success and even more rare for two sisters to see it, especially in the same sport. These sisters have taken the tennis world by storm and made quite a name in the industry.
